Bernadette “Bernie” Gartman, age 96, of Sulligent, AL, formerly of Saraland, AL, passed away Monday, July 30, 2018 at Generations of Vernon Nursing Home in Vernon, AL. A Graveside service will be held on Thursday, August 2, 2018 at 2:00pm at Forest Lawn Cemetery in Saraland, AL.

Bernadette was born on March 8, 1922 in New Orleans, LA to the late Guy K. Loewen Sr. and the late Marie Ingle Loewen. “Bernie”, as so many called her, lived life to the fullest enjoying traveling and her many senior organizations. She most enjoyed spending time with her family, her many friends and meeting people. She always walked with sweet “Jesus”. As she journeyed through life she touched many people. Always caring and helping others. She was truly a special person to many and will be greatly missed. The world will not be the same without “Bernie”.

She was our guiding light and strength always in our family. Now she makes her final journey home to be with her sweet “Jesus” and her love ones and friends who have made their journey home.

To those who are still here she would simply say, “May the peace of the Lord be with you always, God Bless you, goodbye and I will see you on the other side”.
