Berta Auer Wilson, affectionately known as “Betty” by her friends and family, passed away under the thoughtful care of the nurses and hospice at Redstone Village. She is joining her husband Jarvis Wilson in Heaven.

Betty’s childhood with her older brother and two younger sisters in Austria shaped her into the strong and loving woman who would later catch the eye of Jarvis, an American soldier stationed in Vienna. Betty fell in love with Jarvis, and following the passing of her mother, left behind her war-torn country to start a new life with him in America. Betty would end up traveling the world with Jarvis, giving life to two children, Jeff and Malicia whom she loved more than the world. She devoted herself to raising them and creating the idyllic home for her family. Later in life, Betty would give up her “Golden Years” to help raise one of her granddaughters, Kelly. She took joy in her visits to North Carolina to see Jeff, his wife Susan, and children Jeffrey and Jessica. Betty will be remembered and admired for her elegance, her strength, but most of all the sacrificial love she gave her family.

Visitation will be from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon Saturday at Laughlin Service Funeral Home.  The funeral service will follow at 12:00 noon in the funeral home chapel.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Gentiva Hospice of Huntsville.
