Barbara Ann Milford Alphin, 81, of Pace, Florida was born in Florence, Alabama. She passed to her eternal home in heaven on July 1, 2018 after a yearlong battle with ovarian cancer. She was the only child of Paul Houston Milford and Olivia Allen Bevis Milford. She was a graduate of Coffee High School in Florence, Alabama. She married Charlie Alphin in 1954. Their family moved to Pensacola in 1968. She was preceded in death by her parents, and her husband of 49 years.
She is survived by son, Chris Alphin, of Pensacola; and daughter, Sandy and husband, Randy, and granddaughters, Olivia Morgan and Annaleigh Susan, all of Searcy, Arkansas. She is also survived by a sister-in-law, Charlotte Cowart, of Huntsville, Alabama; and cousins, Jack Hensley, of Mineola, Texas and Jim Hensley and wife, Patsy, of Madison, Alabama, who were more like brothers to her. She leaves behind her church family, extended family, and many friends.
Prior to retiring, she worked as secretary at West Hill and Gateway Church of Christ, administrative assistant for Sister Carol at Sacred Heart Children’s Hospital, and office manager for Dr. Henry Yonge. Barbara Ann was an active member of Pace Church of Christ. She was involved in many organizations including Charles S. Stewart UDC, Southern Belles, Five Flags Depression Glass Club, Baptist Hospital Auxiliary, and her Bunko group.
Known to her granddaughters as Baba, she was a true “Southern Belle”. She had the gift of hospitality, grace, and kindness. She was always looking for ways to help others.
Visitation will be at Waters & Hibbert Funeral Home, 124 W. Gregory Street from 5-7 p.m. on Thursday, July 5th. A celebration of life will be held at Pace Church of Christ on Friday, July 6th at 10 a.m. with minister David West officiating. Interment will be at Bayview Memorial Park in Pensacola following services.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Pace Church of Christ building fund.
