George Ralph Cunningham – Obituary

George Ralph Cunningham, age 88 of Belvidere, passed away on Sunday, July 1, 2018 at his residence. He was born in Harvey, Illinois on May 5, 1930 to the late George Elijah and Nora Ellen (Wilkinson) Cunningham. George served in the United States Navy before later retiring from Alladin Heating Local 104. He loved the Lord and traveled to share the Gospel. During his missionary work, George started a church in the Philippines as well as in the Bay Area of California. He was very passionate, strong-willed, and persistent, and loved talking politics. George’s family will remember him for being, “a trusting man that would always give you a chance and saw the best in everyone.” In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his brothers, August Wayne Cunningham, and Donald Andrew Cunningham. George is survived by his loving wife, Imelda Cunningham; daughters, Judith Ann Maloney and Nancy Cunningham; grandsons, Justin James Johnson, and Jason Michael Gonzales; granddaughter, Jamie Leigh Gonzales; eight great-grandchildren; one great-great grandchild; sisters-in-law, Anita (Renato) Marfil and Lucrecia (Martin) Arabejo; and a host of nieces and nephews. Visitation will be from 9-10 AM on Tuesday, July 3, 2018 at Moore-Cortner Funeral Home. Funeral Services will follow at 10:00 AM in the Moore-Cortner Chapel with Pastor Scott Jones officiating. Interment will follow at Franklin Memorial Gardens.
