Martha Jean James Oliver – Obituary

 Martha Jean James Oliver, 82, passed away Tuesday, June 26, 2018 at Russellville Hospital, Russellville, AL. She was born February 27, 1936 in Franklin County, AL and worked at Flower Craft for nineteen years and then retired from VF (Wrangler) in 1998. She was a member of Burnout Missionary Baptist Church.

Services will be Thursday, June 28, 2 p.m. at Burnout Missionary Baptist Church, Vina, AL with Bro. Billy Quinn and Richard Townsend officiating. Burial will be in Burnout Cemetery, Vina, AL. Deaton Funeral Home, Red Bay, AL will be in charge of arrangements.

She is survived by three daughters – Sheila Ann Barnes, Sarah K. “Kathy” Jackson (James) and Sherry Lynne Johnson (David) whom she loved very much. She is also survived by seven grandchildren – Sommer Barnes, Holli Jackson, Cody Barnes, Haley Mays, Cherish Jackson, Cortney Jackson and Dusty Moore; thirteen great-grandchildren; a sister – Barbara Collum (Forby) and a sister-in-law – Charlene Oliver.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Johnny and Claudie James, two sisters, Christine Townsend and Marvalene Coats, one brother, Houston James and one son-in-law, Philip Barnes.

Pallbearers will be Cody Barnes, Dusty Moore, Ronald Coats, Terry James, Jerry James and Tommy Townsend. Honorary pallbearers will be Timmy Oliver and Allan Oliver.

Visitation will be Thursday, June 28, 1-2 p.m. at Burnout Missionary Baptist Church.
