Myra Vivian Woodfin Gover age 88 of Athens, passed away Wednesday, June 13, 2018 at Decatur-Morgan Hospital. Mrs. Gover was born October 1, 1929 in Limestone County, AL to Joe Woodfin and Bessie Rogers Woodfin.
Services will be Sunday, June 17, 2018 2:00 p.m., at O’Neal Church of Christ with Guy McDaniel and Bobby Robinson officiating. The body will lie in state from 1:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. Visitation will be Saturday, June 16, 2018 from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Limestone Chapel Funeral Home. Burial will be in O’Neal Church Cemetery.
Mrs. Gover was a 1948 graduate of Athens High School. She worked the high school D.O. program at U.G. White Hardware for 3 years. She retired at age 82 from Fred’s with 42 years of service. She is the longest attending member at O’Neal Church of Christ for 72 years.
Preceded in death by her parents; husband, King Charles Gover; daughter, Janice Arlene Gover; son, Stuart Ross Gover; sister, Virginia Hogan; brother, Bobby Woodfin; brother-in-law, Estil Williams.
Survived by two daughters, Vicki Gover Linley of Decatur and Patricia Gover Ogle and husband, David of Auburn, AL; two sons, Charles William Gover and wife, Judy of Falkville, AL and Steven King Gover and wife, Janie of Athens; grandchildren, Garrold Linley, Daniel Ogle, Anna Higginbotham and husband, David, Joy Oliver and husband, Jordan, Lauren Killen and husband, Dustin, Emily Vest and husband, Brad, Brian Battan and Jason Battan and wife, Brandy; great-grandchildren, Steven Linley, Alex Oliver, Linley Higginbotham, Hudson Oliver, Banks Higginbotham and Sean Battan; sisters, Joann Williams, Sue Robinson and husband, Bobby and Linda Light and husband, Lavon; sister-in-law, Annette Woodfin; several nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be Garrold Linley, Daniel Ogle, Jordan Oliver, David Higginbotham, Dustin Killen, Brad Vest and Steven Linley. Honorary pallbearers will be nephews.
