Mr. Samuel H.D. “Sam” Sims, age 80, of Union Grove, passed away on Wednesday, June 13, 2018 at Hospice Family Care.
Mr. Sims was born on September 4, 1937 to Samuel Edgar Sims & Mabel Grace Howard Sims in Atlanta, Ga. He retired after 42 years in graphics, supporting NASA & Redstone Arsenal in Huntsville, Al., including 32 years in management for numerous contractors. He also free-lanced as an artist and owned/operated the Farmers Exchange in Arab for several years. He is a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles in Huntsville. He loved yard work, gardening & fishing.
Mr. Sims was a member of Oleander United Methodist Church.
He is survived by his sons, Billy Skidmore & Jason Hosch; daughters and son-in-laws, Monica Sims & David Scott, Peggy & Shawn Martz; daughter-in-law, Sharon Kimbrell Sims; brother & daughter-in-law, Rev. John & Phyllis Sims; grandchildren, Michael & Lacy Scott, Bradley Scott, Shane Martz, Katie Martz, Brentson Skidmore, Quinton Hosch, Madison Hosch, Lashae & Bradley Malone, Makayla Hosch, Ayden Hosch & Kara Sims; 9 great grandchildren.
Funeral service will be 2:00 p.m. Saturday June 16, 2018 at Arab Heritage Memorial Chapel with Rev. Gary McRae & Rev. John Sims, officiating. Burial will be in Oleander Cemetery with Arab Heritage Memorial Chapel, directing.
Pallbearers will be Michael Scott, Jason Hosch, Bill Skidmore, Mike Saint, Brentson Skidmore, Quinton Hosch, Ayden Hosch, Allen Mabrey. Alternate pallbearers; Brent Kilpatrick & Brandon Kilpatrick.
Visitation will be 12:00 p.m. – 2:00 p.m. Saturday, June 16, 2018 at Arab Heritage Memorial Chapel.
