Edith Aston Spangler – Obituary

Edith Aston Spangler, 98, of Leighton, passed away on Thursday, May 31, 2018. Visitation will be Monday, June 4, 2018 from 2 to 3 p.m. at Blythe Memorial Methodist Church. The funeral will follow at 3 p.m. with Dr. Mike Welton officiating. Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery, Tuscumbia.

Edith was a native of Leighton and a member of Blythe Memorial Methodist Church. She was preceded in death by her parents, Alva and Louise Aston; brother, James O. Aston; sister, Lucille Aston Claunch; and granddaughter, Elizabeth O’Neal Allen.

Her survivors include her sons, Frank Arthur Spangler and wife, Vicki of Decatur, Henry Curtis Spangler, Jr. of Leighton and James Paul Spangler and wife, Karen of Tigard, Oregon; daughters, Patricia Spangler Allen of Birmingham, Nancy Spangler Creasy and husband, Don of Leighton and Susan Spangler Warnock and husband, Bob of Birmingham; 19 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Allen Creasy, Robert Warnock, III, John Warnock, Jim Warnock, Frank Spangler, Jr., Hank Spangler, Major Joe Spangler and Calvin Carter. Honorary pallbearer will be L.C. Jeffries.

Special thanks to all of the wonderful nurses and staff of Alacare.
