Funeral for Sam Akers, 59 of Decatur, will be Wednesday May 30, 2018 at 1 p.m. at Peck Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Danny Holmes officiating with burial in the Oden Ridge Cemetery. Peck Funeral Home is directing. Visitation will be Tuesday from 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home.
Mr. Akers was born Aug. 16, 1958 in Kentucky to Estill Akers and Connie Vohcile Montgomery Akers. Mr. Akers was preceded in death by his parents; and brother, Estil Akers. He passed away Friday May 25, 2018 in Russellville Medical Center. He was a member of the Decatur Baptist Church where he was baptized in 2017. He loved spending time with his grandkids and he loved to jump off rock quarries and have late movie nights with lots of treats. He would go out of his way for anyone needing anything.
Survivors include daughter, Crystal Akers, of Russellville; four brothers, Eddie Akers, Kenneth Akers, both of Oden Ridge, Leroy Akers, of Emporia, Virginia, and Isaiah Akers (Nephew) of Oden Ridge; two sisters, Cindy Topash, of Buchanan, Michigan and Anita Suszylo, of Priceville; three grandchildren, Jonathan Motes, Keaton Klepac, and Kolton Klepac.
Pallbearers will be Michael Owens, Jonathan Motes, Josh Topash, Jamie Russell, Isiah Akers, and Chris Suszylo.
