Agatha Heaton Saunders, 89, of Huntsville, passed away Thursday, May 24th. Agatha was born in Anderson, SC on October 29, 1928. She later moved to Charleston, SC where she worked for the US Navy. It was in Charleston where she met her future husband, James Douglas Saunders while he was on assignment from Redstone Arsenal in Huntsville. She and Doug were married on November 18, 1961 in Charleston and moved to Huntsville where they raised three children; Mark, Timothy, and Elizabeth Ann. She later worked in Procurement at RASA at Redstone Arsenal until her retirement. She was preceded in death by her husband, James Douglas Saunders and son, Timothy Paul Saunders.
She was a loving wife and mother who loved sports, gardening, and cooking. She was always a constant source of strength, love, and inspiration for her family and will forever be loved and missed.
Survivors include son, Mark Douglas Saunders (Linda) of Huntsville; daughter, Elizabeth Ann Williams (Mark); grandsons, Matthew Douglas Saunders and Brandon Timothy Williams; and several nieces and nephews.
A private family graveside service was held at Maple Hill Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to American Diabetes Association.
