Peggy Jean Carter, age 84, passed away on Monday, May 21, 2018 at Mitchell-Hollingsworth Rehabilitation Center in Florence, AL. She was born on May 1, 1934 in Littleville, AL to Ralph and Margaret Hamilton.
Peggy grew up in Littleville, AL where she attended Deshler High School in Tuscumbia, AL. She married Denair Evans in 1950 in Littleville, AL and they were divorced in 1978. Peggy married Lloyd Carter in 1979 and lived in Fullerton, CA until her death.
Peggy is survived by her husband, Lloyd Carter of Fullerton, CA; her son, Keith Evans (Gayle) of Bells, TN; her daughter, Pamela Robinson (James) of Lawrencville, GA; sisters, Linda Holt (Richard) of Littleville, AL and Lora Beth Rickard (William) of Tuscumbia, AL; six grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and numerous nephews and nieces.
Peggy was preceded in death by her father, Ralph Hamilton; mother, Margaret Franklin; son, Denair “Lanny” Evans, Jr.; sister, Jimmy Lynn Green; and her ex-husband, Denair Evans.
A funeral service will be held at Morrison Funeral Home, 825 N. Main Street, Tuscumbia, AL at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, May 26, 2018. The family will be greeting friends and relatives from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home on Saturday, May 26, 2018. Burial will follow the funeral at Sheffield, Oakwood Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers the family requests memorial donations be made to St. Judes Children Hospital.
