Billy R. Kidd – Obituary

Billy R. Kidd, 86 of Leighton, passed away Friday, May 18, 2018 at his home. Visitation will be Monday, May 21, 2018 from 12:00-2:00 p.m. at Morrison Funeral Home in Tuscumbia with the funeral service following at 2:00 p.m. in the funeral home chapel. Richard Alexander will officiate the service. Burial will follow in Colbert Memorial Gardens.

Billy was born on March 25, 1932 in Madison County. He graduated from Colbert County High School in 1950. After high school, Billy joined the United States Navy in 1951 and served during the Korean War. He retired from Reynold’s Aluminum Company at the age of 62 after working for the company for more than thirty years. Billy was a member of Harmony Free Will Baptist Church. During his membership at the church, he served as both Trustee and Deacon.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Retha L. Kidd; brother, James Thomas Kidd; sister, Francis Kaye Hammock; and parents, Arlie Thomas and Eliza Kidd.

Survivors include his children, Susan Hannah and husband, Richard of Leighton, William Kidd of Leighton; three grandchildren, William Baird and fiancé, Danna Kanizai of Leighton, Josh Smithey and wife, Hannah of Birmingham, and Toby Hannah and wife, Natalie of Muscle Shoals; and five great grandchildren.

Pallbearers are Keith Lowry, Tommy Hammock, Pete Hammock, Billy James Hammock, John Phil Lowry, Jr. and Tim Hammock.
