Elmer Lee Self, 81, died Monday, May 14, 2018 at the Red Bay Hospital. He was born August 3, 1936 in Franklin County, AL and worked as a carpenter for fifty years. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict. He was a member of Red Bay Freewill Baptist Church where he served as deacon for fifty years.

Services will be Thursday, May 17, 4 p.m. at Red Bay Freewill Baptist Church with Bro. Danny Thompson and Bro. Steve Lindsay officiating.  Burial will be in Hillcrest Memorial Gardens, Red Bay, AL. Deaton Funeral Home, Red Bay, AL will be in charge of arrangements.

He is survived by his wife of fifty-seven years – Dorothy Self, Red Bay, AL; two children – Rhonda Hester (D. Ray) and Michael Self (Juatrina) all of Red Bay, AL; five grandchildren – Bryan Hester (Jill), Katie Hill (Richard), Danielle Wilson (Adam), Shelby Marquez (Alfredo) and Kera Johnson; one great-grandson – Mason Marquez and a host of nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Bertha Self and eight siblings.

Pallbearers will be Brian Self, Sharman Self, Jerry Self, Bryan Hester, Kenny Holland and Justin Roberts. Honorary pallbearer will be Briley Mills.

Visitation will be Wednesday, May 16, 6-9 p.m. at Red Bay Freewill Baptist Church.
