Walter Anthony Rock – Obituary

Walter Anthony Rock, 77, longtime resident of Sarasota, Florida, passed away peacefully at ECM Hospital in Florence, Alabama on Thursday, May 3, 2018. He was born Sept. 24, 1940 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.

Walter is survived by his loving wife of 54 years, Sandra Gregory Rock; son, Clayton James Rock, I (Lanae), of Las Vegas, Neveda; daughter, Erin E. McGregor (Craig), of Sarasota, Florida; three grandchildren, Clayton James Rock II, of Las Vegas, Nevada/ Muscle Shoals, Alabama, Ruby and Gage McGregor, of Sarasota, Florida; brother Michael James Soroczak (Myra), of Muscle Shoals, Alabama; sisters, Barbara Clifford (Charles Sr.) of Ottawa, Illinois, and Kathleen M. Daniels (Timothy), of Cutler Ridge, Florida.; two surviving aunts, Theodora Petruska and Helen Petrachevich, both of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was a United States Army Paratrooper 101st Airborne Division Engineer Battalion. Walter was an industrial paint salesman and small business owner. He loved golf and traveling across the country on his motorcycle. Walt was a patriot, who loved the Lord, his family, and his country. He will always be loved and missed by all who knew him.
