Funeral service for Reverend Alfred Palmer Sr., age 90 of Hartselle will be Monday, April 23, 2018 at 2:00 p.m. at New Center Baptist Church with Brother Ben Bates and Brother Kenny Sudduth officiating with burial in the adjoining cemetery with Peck Funeral Home directing. He will lie in state one hour prior to the service at the Church. Visitation will be from 5:00pm until 8:00pm Sunday evening at the funeral home.
Brother Palmer, who died on Friday, April 20, 2018 at Decatur Morgan Hospital, was born January 23, 1928 in Georgia to John Everett Palmer and Ida Kate Grant Palmer. He was a faithful member of New Center Baptist Church, was a Baptist minister for 74 years in Georgia and Alabama. He was selected Samford Universities “Preacher of the Year” in 2001, was a graduate of Toccoa Falls College in Georgia and had taught for six years in the Howard Extension of Samford University. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather and Loved the Lord with all his heart!
He is survived by his wife of 63 years; Georgia Palmer, 3 sons; Alfred Palmer Jr. (Ann), Micheal Palmer (Maria) and George Palmer (Trenia), 1 daughter; Laura Hodo (Daryl), 2 brothers; George and Thomas Palmer. He is also survived by 13 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.
Cristobal Palmer, Christopher Rigoni, Andrew Palmer, Nathan Rigoni, Adam Palmer, Benjamin Palmer, Micah Rigoni and Bailey Wilson will serve as pallbearers.
Wesley Williams and Trent Brannon will be Honorary Pallbearers.
