Max Clinton Brasher – Obituary

Mr. Max Clinton Brasher, age 83 of Winfield, Alabama, passed away Wednesday, April 18th, 2018 in the Princeton Baptist Medical Center in Birmingham, Alabama.

Max was a member of the Winfield First United Methodist Church, past President, past District President, and very active member of the Winfield Lions Club. Mr. Brasher was co-founder of the famed “Mule Day” event in Winfield, leading to the award of “emeritus” board member of the Winfield Chamber of Commerce. Max served on the Winfield City Council for 25 years and was a supervisor for GTE telephone company for almost 50 years.

He was preceded in death by his parents, C.C. “Shorty” and Eunice Hubbert Brasher; 2 sisters, Linda Smith and Sue Davis; 4 brothers, Jake, Tommy, Jerry Brasher, and Billy Ray Brasher; and a grandson Noah Brasher.

Max is survived by his wife of 65 years, Patsy Roberts Brasher; 2 sons, J. Max “Little Max” Brasher (Pam) and Allen Brasher (Melissa) both of Winfield, AL.; 4 grandchildren, Clay Brasher (Kristen) of New York, Meagan Emerson of Hodges, AL., and Madison Brasher of Winfield, Jeremy Fikes of Anniston, AL.; 3 great-grandchildren, Alyssa Emerson, and one “on the way”, Thomas Clay Brasher; 2 brothers, Dale Brasher Sr. of Winfield, AL., and John (Doris) Brasher of Fayette, AL.; 1 sister, Shirley Ann Gladden (George Ray) of Fayette, AL.; special caregiver, Michelle Gunnin; and grand-pups, Tide and Oliver.

Funeral services for Max will be held on Saturday, April 21, 2018 at 3:00 p.m. from the Winfield First United Methodist Church with burial to follow in the McConnell Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 12:00 noon until 3:00 p.m. (service time) on Saturday at the church. Bro. Earl Freeman and Tom Roberts will officiate.

In lieu of flowers, the family request that donations be made to the Winfield First United Methodist Church sound booth fund, or the Bethlehem Methodist Church in Fayette, AL.
