Eileene Funderburk Hopkins Thompson, 82, passed away Friday, April 20, 2018, at Sanctuary Hospice House. She was born January 5, 1936, to Jim and Lydia Grissom Funderburk. Eileene worked for J.C. Penny for many years as a sales associate doing alterations. She loved her job and being around people. She was a member of Union Grove Church of God of Prophecy where she enjoyed her senior citizen luncheons, and she also attended Centerville Baptist Church. When she was able, she loved her red hat ladies and always looked forward to their events. She grew up singing gospel music and always loved listening to the Gaithers. She loved her grandkids and enjoyed sitting out back watching them swim and play.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday, April 22, at Union Grove Church of God of Prophecy with Bro. Greg Jones, Bro. Curtis Shelton, and Bro. Wayne Thorn officiating. Burial will be in the Union Grove Cemetery. McNeece-Morris Funeral Home of Mantachie is entrusted with arrangements.
She is survived by her husband of almost 33 years, Scottie E. Thompson of Mantachie; two daughters, Paula Bain and Connie Cayson (Jim), both of Mooreville; two sons, Scottie Hopkins of Nashville, TN, and Randy Hopkins (Paulette) of Mantachie; 7 grandsons, Brandon and Justin Hopkins of Nashville, Maverick, Dallas, and Keaton Hopkins of Mantachie, and Aaron and Casey Cayson; one granddaughter, Kristie Denton; three great-grandsons, Rylee, Tripp, and Bradley; two great-granddaughters, Eva Grace and Emma Claire; one brother, Lee Roy Funderburk (Gail) of Columbus; one sister, Bobbie Stephens of Fulton; and a host of nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, Grady Lee Hopkins, in 1983; her parents; four brothers, Delmer, Edsel, Charles, and Lyndon Funderburk; three sisters, Lauren Davis, Lulee Davis, and Ruby Davis; and a very special granddaughter, Kisha Ross.
Her grandsons will serve as pallbearers.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. today at McNeece-Morris Funeral Home in Mantachie and from 1 p.m. until service time Sunday at Union Grove Church of God of Prophecy.
