Raymond Arthur “Art” Slaton, 97, of Manila, Arkansas, passed away March 16, 2018 at Morningside Assisted Living, Sheffield.

He was born September 18, 1920 to Arthur and Velma Slaton. Art was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II where he served in the European theater. He served as the vice president and general superintendent for Cohen Construction before his retirement.

He is survived by several beloved nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Ada Sanders Slaton; brother, Ray Slaton; sisters, Faye Crosswhite and Evon Prewett and nephews, Gordon Crosswhite and Larry Vaughn Sanders.

Visitation will be Saturday, March 24, 2018, from 11 a.m. to noon at Roller- Swift Funeral Home Chapel. Graveside service will follow at noon at Mississippi County Memorial Gardens. Paulbearers will be his nephews.

The family would like to express thanks to Morningside Assisted Living in Sheffield for their excellent care for the past four years.
