Lorraine Helene Epter, originally of Ottawa, Canada, living in Birmingham , passed away on Saturday, March 17, 2018 at the age of 63. Her funeral will be Thursday, March 22, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. at Morrison Funeral Home, Tuscumbia. The family will receive guests at the home of John and Lacey Kennemer following the service.
Lorraine grew-up in Ottawa, Canada. After graduating high school she had a very successful career in the insurance business. She moved to the United States in her late twenties, living in Baltimore, Maryland and Pittsburg, Pennsylvania. She moved to the Shoals area in 1990. She made the south, especially the Shoals area, her home. She loved all things Southern, the family ties, the gentle spirit of the people, the grace with which southerners conduct themselves, and the weather. Lorraine was a wonderful loving mother of three girls, and the very proud grandmother of two boys and one girl. She adored nature, and animals, especially her three dogs. Lorraine gave generously of her time and finances to charities that supported underprivileged children, or mistreated animals.
Lorraine worked for Belk Department Store as a sales associate. She was a very dedicated employee, and enjoyed helping customers.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Lorne and Lillian Charbonneau.
She is survived by her loving partner, Alan Kinkead; brothers, James Charbonneau, wife Mary, and Larry Charbonneau, wife Janet; sister, Mary Grouix, and her three daughters: Jessica Epter and fiancé John-Logan Mynhier, Erica Epter and Sydney Epter; and grandchildren, Ryan Epter, Carly Epter and Kristopher Epter.
