Elizabeth Ford Bixler, 79, of Russellville passed away Friday, March 16, 2018 at North Alabama Specialty Hospital in Athens. Born August 25, 1938, Mrs. Bixler was a native of Albuquerque, New Mexico, and a graduate of the Regina School of Nursing, Santa Fe, New Mexico, Class of 1959. As a young RN, she was employed at Presbyterian Hospital in Albuquerque in the newborn nursery. A housewife and mother, she and her beloved husband of 55 years, James David Bixler “Dave”, have faithfully served together in the Nursery Ministry at First Baptist Church, Russellville. In addition, they have been quite active in the Food Pantry Ministry there as well.
Visitation with family and friends will be today, March 20, 2018 from noon to 2 p.m. at Pinkard Funeral Home, Russellville. Funeral services will begin at 2 p.m. in the funeral home chapel with Patrick Martin officiating. Burial will be follow in Frankin Memory Gardens, Russellville.
Mrs. Bixler is survived by her beloved husband, James David Bixler; daughter, Brenda M. Bixler of Auburn; son, David N. Bixler of Russellville; brother, George Ford of Topeka, Kansas; and nieces, nephews, cousins, and many friends.
Preceding her in death were her parents, Homer Owen and Mae Eastman Ford; brother, Gale Ford; and a sister, Jean Clayton.
