Born the small town of Scotia New York in September 22, 1979 to Polish born immigrants Marian Matwijczuk and Stefan Fagan, David Matwijczuk began his journey in life. David joined the family which included older siblings Paul, Tonia and Daniel. Initially he began speaking the Polish language and later learned English. David spent a lot of time in nature and spent many childhood years playing in upstate New York woodlands. David left New York in the early nineties to begin his life in Columbia, Tn where he would attend Spring Hill High School and later graduate at Columbia Central High School. David formed many relationships and earned the respect and admiration of countless people who truly loved him as the selfless and kindhearted man he was. David was considered by many as being genius in the field of mechanical engineering and implementation and automotive technology. David overcame childhood learning disabilities and self taught himself everything he wanted to learn and believed strongly in learning to do new things through research and reading. Very few tasks David could not teach himself, he inspired us all to push our boundaries and believe in our abilities. To friends and family he will be remembered as the most dependable and kindhearted man they knew. His service to others was exceptional. He would never complain once about helping people with his special talents and time. We should all strive to continue his legacy and selflessness in our lives by the example.

In addition to his parents, he is survived by his brothers: Paul (Mary) Matwijczuk of Florida, Daniel Matwijczuk of Columbia; sister: Tonia (John) Badasci of Nashville; uncle: Krystofer (Teresa) Matwiejczuk of New York; aunt: Josefa Shafran of New York; cousins: Richard Shafran of Alaska, Joanna Matwiejczuk of Florida; and beloved dogs: Pasha, McGruff, and Abby.
