Sarah Alice Graham Carter – Obituary

 Sarah Alice Graham Carter was born on November 2, 1928, to Ralph Emerson and Annie Elsie Zimmerman Graham in Lawrence County. Mrs. Carter peacefully departed this life on March 12, 2018 at her home in Florence, Alabama.

Visitation will be Friday, March 16th from 11:30 am to 1 p.m. at First United Methodist Church of Florence. The memorial service will follow at 1 p.m. at the church.

She is survived by two daughters, Edna Rose (Charles), Sheffield and Mary Young (Donny), Florence, and a daughter-in law, Michiko of Japan; grandchildren, Israel, Chia, Kou, Sho, Timothy, Nicky and Whitney; great-grandchildren, Madelaine and Izuki. Mrs. Carter is also survived by brothers, Ronald Graham (Mary) and Marcellus Graham (Denise), both of Huntsville; Sam Graham (Doyle) and Ben Graham (Kathy), both of Moulton, Bill Graham (Ruth), Athens. She is survived by sisters, Patricia Shelton and Miriam Cuddington (Bill), both of Moulton, and Phoebe Graham, Phoenix. She is also survived by her beloved caregivers, Brenda Skipworth, Bonnie Rogers and Kelly Willard.

She was preceded in death by her parents; a daughter, Dorothy Joan Carter and son, Oliver Carter; and three brothers, Jack Z. Graham, Patrick E. Graham and Maurice E. Graham, all of Moulton.

Mrs. Carter was a retired school teacher from the Florence School System and was a member of First United Methodist Church of Florence. She was a benevolent person who supported many charitable organizations. She was a devout Christian and a devoted wife and mother.

The family would like to give special thanks to Dr. Aaron Karr and Nurse Sue Mills of Hospice Tennessee Valley. The family also appreciative of all the prayers, visits, cards and acts of support and kindnesses from family, friends and neighbors.
