A Memorial Service celebrating the life of William Floyd Key, Sr, 81, of Decatur, will be Wednesday, February 28, 2018, at 5 p.m. at Bridge Builders Church International with Pastor Darius Crayton officiating and inurnment Thursday at 4 p.m. in Sterrs Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in his memory to Habitat for Humanity.
Floyd, who died February 24, 2018, at his residence, was born June 15, 1936, to the late Leslie and Ruth Key. He was preceded in death by his wife, Gertha Clay Key and his brother, Billy Embry.
Floyd was a proud graduate of Decatur Negro High School and employed by Decatur Country Club and its affiliates for over 50 years.
Floyd’s memories will forever be cherished by his four sons, Anthony Balentine, Leslie Lorenzo Kee, William Floyd Kee, Jr. and William Roderick Swoopes; five daughters, Carolyn Kee Ayers (Roderick), Kimberley Kee Harden (Wendell), Carletter Yvette Fletcher, Allunda Marquette Fletcher (Michael) and Kalicia Michelle Darby (Darryl); 17 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; two brothers-in-law, Robert “Mo” Matthews and Bobby Ray Matthews; five sisters-in-law, Gwen Embry, Julia Clay, Annie Priest, Winnie Gholston, Vickie Matthews; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends; Melvin Harris was like a son.
