Mr. Michael Blackburn

Mr. Michael Blackburn, known to all as “Mike”, was born on February 2, 1957 in Huntsville, Alabama to Janie Marie Blackburn Fletcher and Sam Blackburn, Sr. He lived a blessed life and finished his course on February 20, 2018, and entered eternal rest. His father, Sam Blackburn, Sr., and brother Sam Blackburn Jr. preceded him in death. Also preceding him in death were his little twin Angels, his grandchildren that he never got to hold.
Mike was educated in the Huntsville City School System. After graduation from S.R. Butler High School he decided to become a professional painter. He moved to Louisville, Kentucky and began a long career with FM Malone Painting Enterprise. After returning to Huntsville he developed a love for landscaping. At times the landscaping would be difficult and presented a challenge but his favorite saying was “We will make it work when you are one on one with God it will always work.” Spending time with family and landscaping always brought him joy.
Today we pay tribute to Mike-our beloved father, son, brother, uncle, nephew, cousin and friend. It warms our hearts to know that he shared his life to the fullest extent, with us all.
He leaves to cherish his memory: a son, Michael Montreal Blackburn (Corinna) of Louisville, Kentucky; his loving and devoted mother, Janie Marie Blackburn Fletcher of Huntsville, Alabama; sister, Betty Blackburn; brothers, London and Marshall Blackburn, all of Huntsville, Alabama; aunts, Alberta West, Easter Adams and Suphronia B. Robinson, all of Huntsville, Alabama; loving and devoted special friend and confidant, Maion Barnett; devoted special cousins that are like brothers, Gerald West of Douglasville, Georgia, and Archie West, Jr. of Huntsville, Alabama, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and caring friends. In addition to those left to mourn his passing is a very close friend, Mr. Robert Franklin of Huntsville, Alabama.
Funeral service will be 12:00 p.m., Friday, February 23, 2018, at the First Missionary Baptist Church (3509 Blue Spring Road, Huntsville, AL 35810) with Pastor John Jude officiating. Interment will be in Valhalla Memory Gardens. Mr. Blackburn will lie in repose one hour prior to funeral time.
The Blackburn family will receive guests from 6:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. Thursday, February 22, 2018 at the Royal Chapel of Memories.
