Marty Joe Willingham, 52, of Tuscumbia, passed away on Thursday, February 8, 2018. Visitation will be Monday, February 12, 2018 from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. at Morrison Funeral Home, Tuscumbia. The funeral service will follow at 1:00 p.m. in the funeral home chapel with Gary Puryear officiating. Burial will be in Colbert Memorial Gardens.
He was born in Memphis, TN and was a 1983 graduate of Deshler High School where he was a four time state wrestling champion. He also graduated from UNA with a Master’s Degree and retired as a teacher. Marty was a U.S. Marine serving during Desert Storm and was a member of the Church of Christ. He was inducted into the Colbert County Sports Hall of Fame and was an avid Alabama fan. He was preceded in death by his father, Joel S. Willingham and brother, Barry S. Willingham.
Marty is survived by his mother, Linda Howard Willingham; daughters, Jessica Davenport (Kyle) and Laura Willingham; sisters, Lisa Terry (Tommy) and Lori Thompson (Todd); 2 grandchildren, Kruz and Paizlee Davenport; and a host of nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be Tommy Terry, Todd Thompson, Adam Terry, Hunter Thompson, Mike Willingham, Josh Southern, and John Burns.
