Dennis Raymond Stone, 87, passed away Tuesday, January 30, 2018. Visitation will be Saturday, February 3, 2018 from 11:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. at Morrison Funeral Home, Tuscumbia. The funeral service will follow at 12:00 p.m. in the funeral home chapel with Chad Hess officiating. Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery, Sheffield.
He was retired from Reynolds and a member of First Baptist Church Sheffield. He was also a proud member of American Legion Post 31 in Tuscumbia and the Color Guard. He was preceded in death by his parents James Madison and Ollie Woody Stone, 4 brothers and 5 sisters.
He is survived by his wife, Helen Underwood Stone, daughter, Dona Stone Hill (Greg), son Stephen Stone (Susan); grandchildren Laney Marchbanks Radecki (John), Aaron D. Stone, Kristen S. Powell (Jay), Zoie Hill (Zach Smith), Jacie Hill; great-grandchildren, Sydney Powell, Matilda Powell, Elliot Radecki, Graham Radecki; one sister, Anna Gene Stone Smith; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be Ronnie Stone, Aaron Stone, Jay Powell, Zach Smith, Paul Gregory and Nicholas Pearson.
The family would like to thank the kind staff of Cottage of the Shoals, Brentwood Assisted living, Home Instead, Shoals Home Health and Alacare Home Health. Dr. Kenneth Rose and Dr. K. Collins and the staff at Sheffield VA Clinic. Special thank you to the entire stall of Shoals Hospital, especially 4°’ floor nurses and Physical Therapy, Daddy would never consider going anywhere but Shoals Hospital.
