Ruth Wann McLendon – Obituary

Ruth Wann McLendon, 90, of Muscle Shoals, died Jan. 26, 2018. Visitation will be Monday 10 a.m. to noon at Morrison Funeral Home, Tuscumbia. The service will follow at noon in the funeral home chapel with Brother Charlie James officiating. Interment will be at Colbert Memorial Gardens.

Mrs. McLendon was preceded in death by her husband, Jack McLendon; parents, “VC” and Minnie Wann; brothers, “Chick”, Deek and “Jackie Boy” Wann; and sister, Polly Stewart.

She is survived by son, Dr. Jack McLendon Jr. (Sheary); daughters, Wanda McLendon Sample (John) and Sandi McLendon Graves (Gene); sisters, Reba Kirkland; eight grandchildren, Lee Holland, Scott Sample, Jason Sample, Cory Holland, Melissa Shores, Sarabeth Phillips, Grace Zills, Jake McLendon; nine great-grandchildren, Chris Holland, Kennedy Sample, Brody Sample, Addie Shores, Claire Shores, Rachel Shores, Nate Shores, Nolan Holland, Olivia Zills, and one on-the-way, Ami Holland.

Ruth was a lifelong resident of the Shoals. Mrs. McLendon was a charter member of Highland Methodist Church and attended Washington Park Baptist. She was a wife, mother, grandmother and “Mama Ruth” to many more. She loved the Lord, loved her family, and loved others. She lived independently until the end.

The family expresses special thanks to the staff at Helen Keller Hospital and Dr. Brad McAnalley.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the King’s Bread Fellowship.
