Frances Hopkins Moore – Obituary

Frances Hopkins Moore, 95, died Friday, Jan. 26, 2018 at her home. Visitation will be Monday, Jan. 29, 2018, from 6-8 p.m. at Morrison Funeral Home in Tuscumbia.

Frances was preceded in death by her husband, Joe C. Moore; her parents, Percy Hopkins and Ruth Newton Hopkins Gammon; her sister, Meredith Brown; and her brother, William Hopkins.

She is survived by her daughter, Karen Moore Rozell; her sons, Jo-Jo Moore and Jimmy Moore; and her granddaughters, Maggie Rozell and Kelsey Moore.

Frances was born in Vina, Alabama in 1922. She participated in the war effort in the early 1940s as a cartographer, married after the war and settled in Tuscumbia. The family relocated to Sheffield in 1960 and she was a teacher at the Tree House School for many years. She was very involved in the community, especially with her tireless work for the Tennessee Valley Arts Center and the Restoration of the Ritz Theater in Sheffield. She was a long time member of the First United Methodist Church in Sheffield.
