James H. Skipworth and Jo Ann Pruitt Skipworth said “I do” on November 23, 1957 in a preacher’s home in Mississippi. That day they took vows to love, cherish and honor each other, in sickness or in health, until death they do part. That love lasted sixty years. On January 15th, 2018 they left their home to get out and share a meal together. In a blink of an eye they were hit head-on in a horrific car accident. Jo Ann passed away on January 16th and James passed away January 17th within 24 hours of each other. Their love, faith and salvation took them to Heaven to share eternity together. Heaven is rejoicing because they have been reunited with loved ones gone before them.
Jo Ann was 81 years old. James was 80. During their 60 years of marriage they were blessed with three children: Daughters: Tancy Skipworth Naramore (Dennis), Pam Skipworth Kimbrell (Greg), and a son: Jamie Skipworth (Tina).
Grandchildren: Sara Kimbrell Ward (Alex), Lauren Hall Kirkland (Brandon), Jason Kimbrell, Kristen Reese, Cameron Naramore Nichols (Drew) and Miss Daisy Skipworth.
Great-Grandchildren: Axel & Gage Dollar, Zoey Kirkland and Noah Ward.
Jo Ann Pruitt Skipworth was preceded in death by her parents, Carver and Edna Pruitt, sisters, Shirley Pruitt & Lois Nell Burgess, brothers, Kenneth & Doug Pruitt.
James was preceded in death by his parents, Alvin & Charlene Skipworth, brother, Douglas Skipworth, sisters Dessie Skipworth Lawson and Aline Skipworth Fountain.
He is survived by one sister, Wylodean Skipworth Lawson. Two brothers, Jerry Skipworth (Lois) and David Skipworth.
A host of nieces & nephews and a church family that will keep them forever in their hearts.
A double service will be held for them on Saturday, January 20th, 2018 at Greenview Memorial Chapel. Visitation will begin at 11:00 am until 1:00 pm. Service will begin at 1:00 with Rev. Troy Jones officiating. Internment will be immediately after the service in the Greenview Memorial Gardens by the funeral home.
Pallbearers will be Lynn Lawson, Jason Kimbrell, Logan Murphy, Michael Lewis, Alex Ward and Brandon Kirkland.
