Floyd Allen Chatman was born in Madison County, Tennessee on September 4, 1951, the sixth of twelve children to the late Wade Hayes and Annie Pearl Chatman. He attended the public schools of the City of Jackson and graduated from Merry High School in 1969. Floyd also attended Jackson State Community College. He was in the United States Navy, a fireman for the City of Jackson and a County Constable. He worked at Conalco until they closed.
Mr. Chatman confessed his hope in Christ at an early age and was baptized at First Baptist Church, where he attended faithfully even during his illness.
Those left to cherish his precious memories: one grandson, Peyton Jenkins of Jackson, TN; two brothers, Oscar (Trudy) Chatman of Dalton IL and Evans (Jessie) Chatman of Jackson, TN; six sisters, Hazel (James) Ragland, Linda Dean (Lee) Harris, Sharon (Harvey) Buchanan, Julia (Myguel) Pope, Gloria Halton all of Jackson, TN, and Glenda Faye (Walter) Williamson of Long Beach, CA; a host of nieces, nephews cousins, friends and a very special friend, Joyce Chatman and four special caregivers, Kelsey Pierce, Wendy Savage, Hafeega Davis and Antonia Reems.

On Sunday, January 14, 2018, God, in his infinite wisdom, called a faithful servant home, Floyd Allen Chatman. He looked down and sent his angels to take him to join his parents, Wade Hayes and Annie Pearl Greer Chatman, along with his siblings; Alfred Dee, Sallie Mae Chatman Cox, Barbara Ann Owens Ragland and his daughter, Trina Stitts Jenkins.
