Danny Joe Henson, 64, of Tuscumbia, died Saturday, December 30, 2017. His visitation will be Wednesday, January 3, 2018, from 11 a.m. until 2 p.m. at Tuscumbia Church of Christ. His funeral service will immediately follow at 2 p.m. in the church, with Honorable George Carpenter and Jeff Abrams officiating. Burial will follow in Colbert Memorial Gardens.
Mr. Henson was a native of Colbert County. He was a member of Tuscumbia Church of Christ. He was also a Board Member for Tuscumbia Housing Authority, a 40-year member of Deshler High School football chain gang, and a former president of the Tennessee Valley Country Club.
Danny was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, and best friend. His passion was good music, Alabama football, and watching car races. He was proud to call Tuscumbia his hometown.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Jim and Willie Mae Henson; his in-laws, Bo and Ruby Smallwood; and his sister, Jackie Romans.
He is survived by his loving wife of 44 years, Debbie Smallwood Henson; sons, Seth Henson and Jeff Henson (Courtney); one grandson, Andrew Palmer Henson; brother-in-law, Roy Smallwood (Helen); sister-in-law, Vonnie Elkins; and a host of cousins and friends.
Pallbearers will be Bryce Graham, Arkie Smith, David Fleming, Clay Bendall, Randy Inman, Rickey Carter, Michael Rogers, and Steve Lewis.
Honorary pallbearers will be Tim Black, Brad Phillips, Curtis Burns, James Stewart, Danny Ethridge and his Alabama football watching buddies.
