Charles E. Rogers, Sr. of Muscle Shoals passed away on Thursday, December 28, 2017 at the age of 95. His visitation will be Sunday, December 31, 2017 from 1:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. at Morrison Funeral Home, Tuscumbia. The funeral service will follow at 2:00 p.m. in the funeral home chapel with Dr. William Rushing officiating. Charles will be buried in Oakwood Cemetery, Tuscumbia.
He was a native of Colbert County and a veteran of the U.S. Army serving during WWII. He retired as a supervisor from Reynolds Alloys Co. and was a member of Woodward Avenue Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his first wife and mother of his children, Flora Mae Rogers and his second wife Burnnies Hooper Rogers; son, Donald Rogers; brother, Rayburn Rogers; and parents, Neely and Rebecca Rogers.
Charles is survived by his daughters, Kathy James (Larry) of Muscle Shoals and Karen Spencer (George) of Atlanta, GA; son, Charles Rogers, Jr. (Pat) of Traveler’s Rest, SC; stepson, Dale Hooper of Muscle Shoals; brothers, Clifford Rogers of Guntersville, AL and Bobby Rogers of Green Valley, IL; 9 grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren; and special friend, Jeannine Goode of Muscle Shoals.
The family expresses special thanks to the staffs of NHC Healthcare of Moulton and Hospice of North Alabama for their wonderful and compassionate care.
Friends and family will serve as pallbearers.
