Horace Dobbs – Obituary

Horace Dobbs, 87, passed away Thursday, December 21, 2017, at Countrywood Plantation. He was born May 29, 1930, to Sidney and Hattie Jackson Dobbs. He worked for Delta International in Tupelo and was a farmer. He was a veteran of the Korean Conflict.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday, December 22, at the McNeece-Morris Funeral Home Chapel in Mantachie with his son, Eric Dobbs, officiating. Burial will be in the Marietta Cemetery.

Survivors include his wife of 62 years, Mildred Dobbs, whom he married December 21, 1955; one son, Eric Dobbs of Mantachie; two daughters, Susan Groves (David Eick) of Mantachie and Marsha McTune (Mark) of Helena, AL; one brother, Morris Dobbs (Doris) of Marietta; his grandchildren, Allen Cooper, Scott Cooper, Ben Groves, Matt Groves, Allison Dobbs, Jonathan Dobbs, Lindsey Dobbs, and Christopher Dobbs; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Sidney Dobbs, Jr., and Hoyt Dobbs; and two sisters, Mildred Kent and Mary Nell McMahan.

Visitation will be from noon until service time Friday at the funeral home.
