Union Grove, AL, passed away peacefully
on
December 9, 2017 after
a
courageous two-year battle with pancreatic cancer. Steve was a friend t
o all that knew him.
People were drawn to Steve for his kind heart, quick wit, and playf
ul sense of humor. His warm
smile and approachable nature will be greatly missed. Steve
’
s most precious treasure was his
family.
Steve was born in Worthington, Minnesota
on
April 26, 1951.
He
graduated from Worthington
Senior High school and continued on to receive a
BA
from Gustavus Adolphus College in St.
Peter, Minnesota. Later he received his MBA from Northern Illinois Unive
rsity.
Steve married his high school sweetheart and love of his life Beve
rly Frazee
on
June 1
2,
1971
;
they were married
46
sensational years and shared three splendid children togeth
er. Steve
spent a majority of his life in Minnesota before his career brought
him to Indiana and Illinois,
eventually retiring in Alabama.
Steve began his career as a high school teacher, coach, and insura
nce salesman. But his true
professional calling was leading others as an executive for several tr
ade associations and
nonprofit organizations.
He
enjoyed golfing, travelling with his family
,
drinking wine with
friends
,
eating M&M
’
s, and of course, being immersed in his Minnesota Vikings and Twin
s.
Steve is survived by his wife Beverly
;
children, Eden (Dave) Rinehart of Madison, AL, Megan
(Sean) Foreman of Zionsville, IN
and
Seth (Nicole) Johnson of Cedar Park, TX; his pride and
joy were his grandchildren, Elise, Isaac, Mason, Paige, Brooke, Hal
lie and Maya; Brothers
Scott (Sara) Johnson and Greg (Jan) Johnson; numerous extended f
amily and close friends.
Steve was preceded in death by his
pa
rents, Lenny and Jean Johnson; brothers, Jeff and
Jeffery; in-laws Ray and Lorriane Frazee; Aunts, Uncles and Cousins.
A memorial service will be held at First United Methodist Church
of Arab, 1058 North Main
Street, Arab, AL 35

on December 16, 2017. Visitation will commence at 2:00 PM with
ceremony starting at 3:00 P.M. Following the service, we will gathe
r at the Cherokee Ridge
Lake House to celebrate his life. In lieu of flowers, memorial do
