Mr. Orval M. Newell, 73, of Hackleburg, Alabama, passed away at the VA Hospital in Birmingham, Alabama, on Sunday, November 26, 2017.
A native of Franklin County, AL, Mr. Newell was a security officer and a member of New Hope Baptist Church, Haleyville, AL. A veteran, he served in the U.S. Navy. He was the son of the late William Newton and Exer Shifflett Newell.
Mr. Newell is survived by two sons: John and Jeff Newell; two brothers: Orman (Dean) Newell and Ralph Newell; two sisters: ;Mary Ann (Richard) Norman and Irene Swallow; a grandson, Issac Newell; and several nieces and nephews.
Preceding him in death were his parents and sisters: Cora Mae Allison, Ethel Kinard, Velma Beasley, Flora Smith, Bethany Pierce, and Sherry Spain.
Pinkard Funeral Home, Russellville, is assisting the family.
