Gladys Marie Newton, 86, of Hazel Green, passed away Friday. Mrs.Carter was a native and lifelong resident of Madison County. She was preceded in death by her husband, Jerome Newton; son Daniel Greer; daughter Martha Greer; parents, Byarm Holt and Lela Mae Holt; two brothers, Samuel Thomas Sledge and Holt Sledge; and sister Pegg Sledge.
Survivors include son Larry Bailey; daughter Juanna Carter; six grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
No services are planned. Berryhill Funeral Home assisted the family.
