Strong Winds And Storms Wreak Havoc In The Area

THE TENNESSEE VALLEY-On Saturday, November 18 a strong front came through the area of  Northwest Alabama bringing strong storms with high winds leaving power outages, downed trees and damaged buildings across Colbert, Franklin and Lauderdale counties.

In Florence by 8:30 PM a reported 7,114 homes and businesses were without power. At 10:30 PM that number had dropped to 5,878.   Some of the hardest hit areas were on Cloverdale Road in Florence, where Advance Auto was destroyed, as well as the area of Ligon Springs in Colbert County near the Franklin County line.

As of 7:00 PM on Saturday Sheffield Utilities reported  multiple outages throughout Colbert County. Utility crews are working to restore power as soon as possible. If you are out of power please call 256-389-2478 to report it. If you are unable to get through please try again.

Across the area power outages and damage were reported as of 6:30 PM on Saturday there were power outages across Madison County  affecting areas around HSV International Airport, the City of Madison, New Market, and S Huntsville.
