Rosalind Roberts, 72, of Huntsville, passed away Tuesday. Ros was born in England, grew up in southern Africa, and came with her husband to America in 1979. She was one of the first women computer programmers in South Africa in the 1960’s. She liked vegetarian cooking, neighborhood walking, ballroom dancing, doing crosswords, and quilting. She was a member of the International Women’s Club, the Cotillion Ballroom Dance Club, and the Heritage Quilters of Huntsville.
Survivors include her husband of 48 years, Mike Roberts; daughter, Madeline Vann (Jim) of Williamsburg, VA; son, Lawrence Roberts (Lucy) of Tuscaloosa; grandchildren, Ben, Erik, Malcolm, Sylvia and David; brother, Archie Churcher (Joan) of Lauragel, France; and two nieces.
Visitation will be from 10 to 11 a.m. Wednesday at Good Shepherd Catholic Church. The funeral service will follow at 11 at the church with Father Phil O’Kennedy officiating.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital.
