Jerry Newell Howard – Obituary

Jerry Newell Howard, age 68, passed away Nov. 5, 2017. He was a 1967 graduate of Lexington High School in Lexington, Alabama, a graduate of the University of North Alabama, was a U.S. Army Vietnam veteran, and was retired from Genesco.

Mr. Howard is survived by his wife, Dorothy F. Howard; and son, Ryan Howard, of Madison, Alabama; daughter, Kimberly Cosby, of Huntsville, Alabama; grandchildren, Erica Unger, of Rogersville, Alabama, and Alexander Braden, of Nashville, Tennessee; and five great-grandchildren; brother, Carmon Howard, of Lexington, Alabama; nephew, Jonathan Howard, of Lilburn, Georgia; nephew, Shawn Howard, of Gurley, Alabama; nephew, Brett Sams, of Houston, Texas; niece, Pam Ritter, of Rogersville, Alabama; nephew, Ted Lash, of Rogersville, Alabama; niece, Lynn Southgate, of Madison, Alabama; and niece, Ann Peavey, of Madison, Alabama.

He was preceded in death by his son, Matthew Howard; parents, Andrew Woodrow and Elsie Howard; sister, Carole Howard Sams; and brother, Don Howard.

The memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, Nov. 9, 2017, at Nebo Presbyterian Church in Lexington, Alabama followed by the interment of ashes at Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church Cemetery in Lexington, Alabama.

In Lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Alzheimer’s Association.
