Writher Odell Staggs Jr., born on Nov. 23, 1935, passed away on Monday, Oct. 30, 2017, at the age of 81. Visitation will be Friday, Nov. 3, from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. at Spry-Williams Funeral Home of Florence. The service will follow at 1 p.m. in the funeral home chapel. Burial will be at Greenview Memorial Park. He was raised of the Pentecostal faith.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Wanda Ann Castile Staggs; daughters, Elizabeth Staggs Connor and Donna Staggs Head; parents, Writher Staggs Sr. and Grace Staggs; one sister; and four brothers.
Survivors are his daughers, Kay Ahrens (Mike), Belinda Walker (Keith), Bonnie McCullars (Tony), and Anber Grim (Russ); son, Jessy Staggs (Chanda); brothers, Richard and Charles Staggs; sisters, Shirley Vaughan and Christine Churchwell; grandchildren, Christopher Walker (Jennifer), Andrew Walker, Whitney Green (Chad), Tonya Crosswhite (Zac), Ranza Grimes, Sierra Staggs, Haley Urban, and Kylie, Madison and Jessyca Staggs; great-grandchildren, Bryson, Kaleigh, Kamdon, Weston, and Lukas; and a host of nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers are David Staggs, Alex Staggs, Ronnie Castile, Jonathan Threet, Brian Staggs, Richard Staggs III, Ronnie Jones, and Kenny Vaughn. Honorary pallbearers are nurses and CNAs of station three, and special nurse Myra Crunk. The family would like to personally thank the nurses and CNAs of station three and the staff of Mitchell Hollingsworth and to Hospice nurse Heather Hill.
