Billy Gene Chamblee – Obituary

Billy Gene Chamblee, 85, passed away Friday, October 20, 2017, at The Meadows. He was born July 6, 1932, in Itawamba County to John William and Mary Ethel Samples Chamblee. He worked for over 30 years as a custodian for the Itawamba County School District at the Fulton Grammar School. After his retirement, he worked at Wal-Mart. He was a member of Gum Church of Christ. He enjoyed mowing yards, listening to bluegrass gospel music, watching Unity Broadcasting on Channel 39, and going to church.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday, October 22, at the McNeece-Morris Funeral Home Chapel in Fulton with Ministers Brady Ramey and Russ Crosswhite officiating. Burial will be in the Gum Cemetery.

Survivors include four sons, Charles Daniel Luther (Bonnie) of Fulton, Billy Luther of Ryan’s Well, and John Chamblee and Tommy Chamblee (Rita), both of Fulton; one daughter, Linda Hutcheson (Ricky) of Ryan’s Well; 15 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Emma Jean Chamblee; two brothers, Charles and James Chamblee; two sisters, Lois Reich and Collie Hughes; and his parents.

His grandsons will serve as pallbearers.

Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Saturday, October 21, and will continue from 8 a.m. until service time Sunday at McNeece-Morris Funeral Home in Fulton.
