Mrs. Louise “Lucy”  Brewer, 86, passed away on Thursday, October 19, 2017 at Falkville Health Care Center.  She was born July 26, 1931, in Morgan County to Robert D. Ward and Ethyl Russell Ward.

Lucy grew up in Hartselle, AL and attended Falkville High School. After high school, she worked on Redstone Arsenal and cherished memories of seeing Wernher Von Braun and many presidents, including John F. Kennedy, during their visits to Huntsville.

Lucy married Calvin Brewer in 1948 in Iuka, Mississippi. They were happily married for 69 years. She was a member of Gum Springs Baptist Church in Hartselle and was a member of the Somerville Garden Club. She enjoyed country music, especially Hank Williams. She and Calvin made many trips to the Hank Williams’ Festival at Georgiana. In recent years, they enjoyed attending music events at the Hack Ward Music Barn and Joel Gurley’s Soggy Bottom Barn. Lucy was the family historian of the Russell and Ward Families and was very knowledgeable of the history of Morgan County. She honored all members of the armed forces, and was most proud of her husband Calvin’s service in the U.S. Navy.

She was preceded in death by her parents: Robert and Ethyl Ward, a sister: Bobbie Jean Ward, and a brother: Russell Ward.

Kenneth Wayne Ward (Faye)

Barbara Kerins and
June Wallace (Dwain)

Two Grandchildren:
Dwight Brewer (Rachel)
Mary Travers (Jon)

Three Great Grandchildren:
Olivia Travers, Kiersten Brewer and Alana Travers

Funeral service for Louise “Lucy” Ward Brewer, 86, will be Monday, October 23, 2017 at 1:00 PM at Peck Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Anthony Patterson officiating and Peck Funeral Home directing.    Burial will be in Mt  Zion Cemetery.  Visitation will be Monday, October 23, 2017 from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM at Peck Funeral Home.

Pallbearers will be Nephews.
