Carlton J. Bishop – Obituary

Carlton J. Bishop, 66, of Valparaiso, Indiana, formerly of Alabama, passed away Thursday, September 28, 2017. He was born September 9, 1951 in Russellville, AL to the late Leon and Dora Tharp Bishop. Carl graduated from Thornridge High School in Dolton, IL and went on to become a self-employed contractor and construction worker, building anything from high rises in Chicago to dental offices in the suburbs. He also worked previously on his cattle farm in Alabama, which he still owned. Carl will be remembered by his family and friends as a proud, welcoming, funny, and social guy.
Carl married Roxane Novello, who survives, along with their children: Carlton L. Bishop and Gina M. Bishop, both of Valparaiso; siblings, Anson Bishop of Monee, IL, Mary C. Lawhead of Russellville, AL; many loving nieces and nephews, close family friend Kenny Hassee and beloved dog, Coco. He was preceded in death by his sister, Ella (Jean) Powell, and treasured dog, Maxx.
A memorial service for Mr. Bishop will be held Saturday, October 21, 2017 at 1:00 P.M. at Russellville Funeral Home Chapel, Russellville, AL. Visitation for family and friends will be prior to service time beginning at 12:00 Noon in the funeral home chapel. Ralph C. Bishop, Jr. will be officiating.
