Charles Edward Parker, 76, passed away Friday, Oct. 13, 2017, at Huntsville Hospital following a brief illness. Visitation will be today, Oct. 15, 2017, from 1-3 p.m. at Spry-Williams Funeral Home in Florence, Alabama. The funeral service will be at 3 p.m. in the funeral home chapel with his son-in-law, Jeff Dowdy, officiating. Burial will follow at Williams Chapel Presbyterian Church Cemetery in Waterloo.
Mr. Parker was born on March 17, 1941, on Panther Creek in Waterloo, Alabama. He was a 1959 graduate of Waterloo High School and a retired salesman. He was preceded in death by his 11-year-old daughter and namesake, Vickie Charleen Parker; his father, Edward Odell Parker; and special uncle and aunt, Gyle and Annie Higgins.
Mr. Parker is survived by his mother, Odessa Parker, of Florence, Alabama; brother, Fay Parker (Donna), of Waterloo, Alabama; son, Nelson Parker (Paige), of Woodville, Alabama; daughter, Laura Parker Dowdy (Jeff), of Huntsville, Alabama; his children’s mother, Helen Holcombe Parker, of Waterloo, Alabama; granddaughters, Avery Parker, Olivia Parker, and Clarke Dowdy; grandsons, Easton Parker and Grant Dowdy; and many beloved nieces, nephews, and special friends.
Pallbearers will be his nephews, Preston Parker, Stevie Orrick, Brad Broadfoot, Ryan Orrick, David Holcombe, Dwayne Holcombe, and Bryan Holcombe.
