Ronald “Reb” Eugene Boatwright, of Red Bay, passed away on Thursday, October 12, 2017 at the age of 57. His visitation will be Saturday, October 14, 2017 from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Morrison Funeral Home, Tuscumbia. The funeral service will be Sunday, October 15, 2017 at 2:00 p.m. in the funeral home chapel with Bro. Rick Murrell officiating. He will be buried in Glendale Cemetery.
Reb was a native of Leighton, graduated from Colbert County High School with the Class of 1978, and was a member of the Community Center Baptist Church. He was the Assistant Chief at the Leighton Police Department, the Chief at the Rogersville Police Department, and the Chief at the Red Bay Police Department. Reb was a committed public servant who served with diligence as well as having a great love for his family and friends. His stories and laughs will be greatly missed.
He is survived by his parents, Eugene and Gloria Boatwright; wife, Renee Boatwright; sisters, Cindy Folger (Keith) and Sha Hatton (Farell); sons, Jason and Daryl Boatwright; daughter, Mercadies Boatwright; stepsons, Wayne and Scotty Swearengin; special aunt, Brenda “Pud” Howard; aunt, Doris Stewart; uncle, Billy Ray Boatwright; nieces, Whitney Fisher (Dustin), Kelsey South (James), and Farron Hatton; nephews, Devin South and Brilen Hatton; and many other relatives and loved ones.
Pallbearers and honorary pallbearers will be close friends.
