Sidney Lee McAlister – Obituary

Sidney Lee McAlister, age 96, passed away Tuesday, Sept. 26, 2017. A graveside service will be Friday, Sept. 29, at 10 a.m. at Sheffield Oakwood with Brother Jack Bailey officiating. Full military honors will be accorded. Family will serve as pallbearers.

Sidney was preceded in death by his wife, Lucille McAlister.

Survivors are his daughters, Paulette Clemons and Annette Roberts (Roy); son, Ted Darrel McAlister (Carol); sisters, Maureen Parker, Reba Byrd, Sarah Hooper, and Lexie Treacher; six grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Sidney McAlister served during World War II under Gen. Patton and earned a Purple Heart for his service in Europe and Africa. Sindey went on to work as a foreman at Southern Sash in Muscle Shoals for more than 20 years.
