Robbie Pierce Austin Murphy, age 98, of Waterloo, passed away on Friday, Sept. 1, 2017, at Southern Magnolia Estates in Iuka, Mississippi. She was born in Hardin County Tennessee on Oct. 30, 1918, to Walter Harsh Austin and Jewell Cherry Austin Wisdom who preceded her in death.
She married Charles Murphy on July 27, 1940 and he preceded her in death on Sept. 7, 2005. She was a member of Williams Chapel Presbyterian Church and enjoyed crocheting, quilting, cooking, gardening, and spending time with her family.
Services will be on today, Sept. 3, 2017, at 2 p.m. at Spry-Williams Funeral Home in Florence, Alabama with David Winborn, Charles Murphy, and John Abrams presiding. Interment will be at Williams Chapel Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be John Abrams, Jason Gardner, David Whitfield, Austin Whitfield, Andrew Whitfield, Samuel Gardner, Gabriel Gardner, and Ricky South. Honorary pallbearers are Jack Murphy, William Murphy, Luke Gardner, Alexander Whitfield, Emma Abrams, Ethan Abrams, Wayne Haggard, and Deryl Wisdom.
She is survived by her son, Ronnie Murphy (Peggy), of Auburn, Alabama; daughter, Charlotte Abrams (Tommy), of Olive Branch, Mississippi; grandchildren, Charles Murphy (Susan), of Virginia Beach, Virginia, Felicia Gardner (Jason), of Auburn, Alabama, Cynthia Whitfield (David), of Iuka, Mississippi, and John Abrams (Candy), of Olive Branch, Mississippi; great-grandchildren, Jack and William Murphy, of Virginia Beach, Virginia, Samuel Gabriel and Luke Gardner, of Auburn, Alabama, Austin, Andrew, and Alexander Whitfield, of Iuka, Mississippi, and Emma and Ethan Abrams, of Olive Branch, Mississippi.
She was also preceded in death by her infant son, Jerry Murphy; brothers, James Austin, Harold Wisdom, Joe Wisdom, and Earnest Wisdom; and her sisters, Vera Austin and Mary Walter Austin McFall.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Williams Chapel Cemetery Fund or the charity of the donor’s choice.
