Billy Gene Lewey, of Leighton, passed away on Thursday, August 17, 2017 at the age of 84. His visitation will be Saturday, August 19, 2017 from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. at Morrison Funeral Home, Tuscumbia. The funeral service will follow in the funeral home chapel with Larry Kilpatrick officiating. Billy will be buried in Oakwood Cemetery, Tuscumbia.
He was a native of Colbert County and a decorated veteran serving in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict. Billy retired from Reynolds Metal Co. and was a member of the Cox Boulevard Church of Christ. He was preceded in death by his parents, Charlie and Artie Lewey; 3 sisters; and 2 brothers.
Billy is survived by his loving wife of 63 years, Shirley Thomas Lewey; sons, Billy Gene Lewey, Jr. and wife, Cynthia and Charles David Lewey; granddaughters, Shayla and Chelsea; grandsons, Joshua and Jamison; and a host of nieces and nephews.
Friends and family will serve as pallbearers.
