Gaines Linwood Watts – Obituary

Gaines Linwood Watts was a man of God who loved his family, friends and his church. He worked for 20 years ministering to inmates at the city jail and for 20+ more years working Kairos ministry at Limestone Prison. He loved cars, Formula 1 racing, ballroom dancing, having lunch with his buddies at work, singing in the choir, meeting with his Cursillo Reunion Group, teaching Sunday School and serving on the Outreach committee at the Church of the Nativity. Gaines was a graduate The University of Alabama, worked at NASA for 39 years, and Qualis for over 10 years.

He is survived by his wife of almost 20 years, Cheryl Dawson Watts; daughters, Jaime Farrell and Dana Fitch; stepsons, Kevin (Janet) Voorhees, and Wes (Meredith) Voorhees; eight grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be from 11am to 12:30pm Friday, August 18 at the Church of the Nativity on with the funeral service following at 1:00 pm.

In lieu of flowers please send donations to Camp Mc Dowel, Church of the Nativity Choir or Huntsville Inner City Learning Center.
