Military Funeral Service for Howard Garnett, 72 of Decatur will be Wednesday June 28, 2017 at 1:00PM at New Friendship Baptist Church with Rev. Ronald Manley and Rev. Greg Standridge officiating with burial New Friendship Cemetery with Peck Funeral Home Directing. Mr. Garnett will lie in state 1 Hour at the Church. Visitation will be Tuesday from 6:00-8:00PM at the funeral home.

Mr. Garnett was born August 27, 1944 to William R. Garnett and Louise Berryhill Garnett in Morgan County, AL. He passed away Saturday June 24, 2017 at his residence. He was retired from 3M Corporation where he worked as a Lab Technician. Mr. Garnett was a loving Husband, Father and Grandfather. Mr. Garnett served in the United States Marine Corp. in Vietnam from June 24, 1963 until June 23, 1967 where he served as a Hospital Corpsman third class. While in service he received a Silver Star, Purple Heart, National Defense Service Medal, and Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal (Vietnam). He was preceded in death by his wife, June Taylor Garnett.
